Concept
Going back to the roots of Dior, the Avenue de montaigne the start of the imperium. Diors first Store was opened on a street named after Michelle de Montaigne a philosopher and a skeptic.
A man with the urge to change and deconstruct the ways of seeing and thinking. Questioning learned norms and dogma. Like Montaigne the brand Dior was rethought. What does it represent? What is Diors recognition value?
Taken all that together the concept of "Les Vitrines" was created.
As an homage to Paris' glamorous past, Cannage, Toile de Jouy and the Oblique were chosen as design elements. These traditional and brand recognizable ornaments, were deconstructed and rethought. Not just visually breaking them apart but also giving them a new texture and feel by using acrylic glass and a UV print.
To bring the panes in a spatial context, black vitrines were used as a base.
The printed panels can be placed on each side as needed.
Therefore the Vitrines are flexible and very reconcilable.
The vitrine alone creates an interesting space, but together they create a modular system were each model can be placed horizontal as well as vertical.
This enables an easy arrangement for any available space.
Closed and open spaces can easily be created by placing the modules as needed. The transparency not only incorporates the Pop-up in its surroundings, it still lets it stand out due to the play of light and shadow.
To visualize the modularity a 1:15 model was created with individual modules to interact and see how easy completely different retail spaces can be created.
Different heights of the modules are easy to achieve by removing the upper third.
As seen in the 1:1 model products can easily be illuminated with the led's.
The prototype shows how much of photo location Les Vitrines is.
The Vitrines is at is highes 2,4m tall, 80cm wide and 40cm deep.
